Yodel has invested over £1m in a state-of-the-art new sortation system that is specially designed to handle delicate and irregular shaped parcels. The investment follows a record year of growth for the business, with it scaling up capability to handle a broad range of specialist items.

UK independent parcel carrier Yodel has announced that it is looking to recruit 4,311 new colleagues as the business prepares for what is expected to be a busy festive period. There are a variety of roles available – including couriers, parcel sorters and warehouse operatives at one of Yodel’s 50 locations nationwide.

Yodel has partnered with Hexapole, a specialist sortation company based in the Netherlands, to optimise sorting capability for small parcels at their Shaw sortation centre in Oldham.

UK independent parcel carrier Yodel has launched a new consumer-to-consumer service via Yodel Direct, following a record year of growth for online retail. Customers will be able to ship parcels up to 60x50x50cm and weighing up to 10kg. Once a customer has booked a delivery online at www.yodeldirect.co.uk, they will be presented with a label to print from the comfort of their own home or a QR code which will allow them to print a label in store.

In January 2019, Yodel set out to revolutionise their hand-held devices, with a dedicated project team assembled from various departments across the business to create the Bring Your Own Device app.
